A delightful Victorian period kettle of particularly pleasing, unusual rectangular form cast from quality copper and brass and rare to be stamped with the royal cipher, VR indicating that it once formed part of the inventory of the royal household of Queen Victoria. The copper body is raised on the four original shaped brass feet and is further adorned with brass highlights including the scrolling supports for the sturdy copper handle and the edged rim around the aperture. The lid is surmounted by a decorative acorn knop finial. An attractive, desirable item remaining in excellent original condition. Circa 1840-60.
