Of heroic proportions, a cast iron door stop in the form of a Lion Rampant, holding in his paws the standard of St. George to represent England. The door stop, unusually, retains its original painted finish: the gilt bronze of the lion, the red and white flag and the green painted ground all remain intact. The reverse of the piece is impressed with the Registered Design lozenge. A highly desirable and still practical furnishing piece remaining throughout in excellent original condition. Circa 1880.
